GW Day, a story almost a month late.

Ready, set, GO! We all raced as soon as the word go was said.

One Monday last January was OBEM's (the organization I already mentioned a few times in my other posts) Guradian-Ward Day. As applicants, we were given members as guardians to help us during the app process and we, the wards and our guardians were able to have some bonding time during the GW Day. There was some kind of a race where we have to go to five stations and do the tasks on a particular station.

Station 1: Be a garbage collector. We were asked to get 10 pet bottles around the are of School of Economics (our beloved college) and bring it back to Drei and Allan (the marshals) who were waiting inside the Econ Atrium. I had a pseudo-guardian who was Jed because my real guardian, Randall wasn't there yet when the race started. As the other teams ran out of SE (School of Economics), Jed told me to play it cool. He said that we don't need to run just to be first. So, we just looked around SE and luckily, we were able to ask the maintenance man if we could have the pet bottles his co-worker were collecting. He said go ahead and we instantly had 8 pet bottles on hand. After that, he pointed to another pet bottle lying around the fallen leaves outside the building. 9 now, just one more to go. I then asked the security guard if I could have his water bottle and because he's so kind, he gave it to me. So much for playing it cool, it did not even take us 5 minutes to have 10 bottles! Hurray! But when we went back the atrium, we saw that there was already a team who went ahead of us. Boohoo! But still, the race continues and we move on to the next station.

Before leaving SE, Jed's ward Mark came so our team now has two wards and a guardian.

Station 2: Be a beggar. Next station was outside Starbucks (UP-AyalaLand TechnoHub). Ate Angel was waiting for us outside with a cold drink in hand. I was tempted to go inside and buy one for myself when I remembered I only have 20php in my pocket. Starbucks next time, Ate Angel told us to ask from the people around TechnoHub for exactly 3.75php. I was like, wtf? Do people still keep their 25cents? But thank God, some people still do. So, we had our 3.75 cents in less than a minute but I was the only one who got them all in our team.

Station 3: Be a Sudoku expert. I am really fond of Sudoku so I was thrilled when I found out that Ate Pau from Station 3 (in front of National Bookstore, still in TechnoHub) told us to finish one. Kuya Jed and Mark helped me this time since they were both fond of Sudoku too. My guardian, Kuya Randall came when we were just starting (yehey!) and we completed the task before we knew it. Off to the next station, clue: Jooger ni Sarah ('Sarah's special someone' would be the best translation for it. Haha)

Station 4: Be a paparazzi. The next task was given by Ate Gi (the station now in Philcoa - Mang Inasal). What to do? Take our picture with a stranger. We asked the man also sitting on Ate Gi's table if we could take our picture with him and the woman on the table across if she could take our picture. What's funny was the woman looked into Kuya Randall's phone (which we used to take our photo) like it was a camera. I really suck in narrating so just laugh for me. C'mon, say Hahaha. (Thank you, thank you.) She could not get it right so Ate Gi just took the photo for us.

Station 5: Be a catcher. Second to the last station was in Bahay ng Alumni (UPD). We were lost because we didn't see Ate Irene sleeping on one of the benches at the second floor. When we found her, we lost no time in finding out the last task. Last task: Guardian and ward should catch a ball 5 consecutive times without it falling. If it falls, then guardian and ward would repeat throwing and catching the ball. For me, this task would be the easiest but I was wrong. This was the one which took the longest time (my dear guardian to blame, haha) because the ball kept falling. My co-app, Nikki's team reached Station 5 when we were just about to finish because we were really slow in accomplishing the task. But we still finished it and we were off to go back to OBEM tambs (SE 122).

Run fast! We thought that Nikki's team would take a long time in doing the last task too but we were wrong. In fact, they were already running down the front stairs of Bahay ng Alumni when we were just a few meters away from it. So, we have no choice but to run fast despite the fact that we (I) were really tired. Our team and Nikki's team took different routes in going back but we saw each other again near the College of Engineering. So, we ran again. Thank goodness the other team was already tired so we were the first team to reach the OBEM tambayan.

Yey for us, we won! Hurray! I was so proud of myself because I was able to run an awful long distance. I don't really do that. And just a few weeks ago, Kuya Drei gave me my prize, a tiny photo frame! What a relief for all the run. Wooow, seriously. :| But even if I was dead tired, GW Day was super duper fun! :)

PS This blog is a failure. (Because it is almost a month late and I haven't blogged for a while. Gaaah.)
